"TahitiPetey"

Maeva, Welcome to the TahitiPetey® Foundation, website, my name is Peter "TahitiPetey" Ortmann, Founder and President of the Foundation, a private, family funded organization based in British Columbia, Canada.

My wife, Corrin, and I have been through some unbelievable challenges the past eight years as we worked tirelessly to launch our Foundation and our core programs. The economy, among other challenges has made it virtually impossible to fund new programs like we propose.

I am pleased to announce that after over two years of seeking ways to fund our programs long-term, we have recently partnered with a new investment group to help build-out both our global Clear Blue OCEANS plastic waste reduction initiative, and our very special Marissa's Reef For Heavenly Helpers project. This site shares more on both.

Despite years of program refinements,  we remain determined to build a powerful new voice for our oceans in an effort to reverse the damaging trends of plastic waste in general, and ocean plastic waste in particular, which is killing millions of sea birds, fishes and marine life annually.

The simple fact is that most people simply have no idea just how bad the plastic waste issue in general has become. As a result, many people today view the impact of one-time only use of convenience-based plastic products as a non-issue.  They believe the hogwash fed them about the success of recycling. We aim to change these views.

The current oil disaster in the Gulf of Mexico has brought new focus onto the oceans, and the impact of products we all use and need daily has on our planet. Like many, we too have grown disgusted with the inability of both oil companies and our governments to deal with such events effectively to stop the damage.

The oil disaster, however tragic, is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to ocean issues, and to better understand just how much we have damaged our oceans over the past 50 years, please watch the short video below featuring Dr. Sylvia Earle, a well-respected marine scientist as she shares some truly unbelievable facts you need to know!

As Ms. Earle says in this video, "NO Blue, No Green" and we certainly agree with her on that view. Our world has many important environmental and other issues that must all be dealt with, but the oceans should be at the top of everyone's list. They represent our largest natural food resource.

The ocean's problems will not correct themselves, it is up to all of us to collectively help make the word BLUE as powerful and as important as the word Green has become today. Not just through the eco-statements of our most popular brands or the false promises of our politicians, but by working together to spread the message of change and becoming more sustainable ourselves.

We can no longer keep our heads in the sand and ignore our oceans or their importance on our lives today or in the future. We MUST become more aware and address the problems we face if we ever hope of correcting them. That is what Corrin and I hope to help accomplish through our Foundation and Clear Blue OCEANS Initiative.

It's not going to be an easy task, but working together we can effect real change. We hope you will join us in this effort when we launch our Sponsor supported CBO Web Site (sample design shown on left) in July, which is being designed to become a powerful new information resource that will drive change in the way we all view and use plastic products and food packaging today.

Help us, help reverse the growing trend of plastic waste in general, and the ocean plastic waste in particular. Working Together we can and MUST accomplish those goals.

Cordially,

TahitiPetey
