The TahitiPetey® Foundation's primary objective is simple: to make the world more aware of the plastic waste issues in general, and their impact to our oceans, our marine life, destination island communities and our own health. The Foundation intends to educate people about the beauty and importance of the oceans and showcase the issues that impact them in an effort to help reverse the damage caused by almost 50 years of ocean plastic pollution, ocean dumping and over-fishing. Although we have proposed many unique programs and projects over the years, a lack of will on behalf of corporate partners, and adequate funding has prevented them from coming to life. As of July 2010, the Foundation has elected to expand its private FoundersClub, its core self-funding program to accomplish its objectives. The Foundation, with the financial support of its FoundersClub, will build and manage its two core projects as follows: 1. Build and promote our global Clear Blue OCEANS plastic waste reduction initiative to change the way people view and use one-time only plastic products and packaging worldwide. 2 Design, build and operate the Marissa's Reef For Heavenly Helpers project to honor children lost as a result of natural disasters, to be built in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
The Foundation will seek to educate people about the need to reduce our daily consumption of plastic bags and beverage containers that reach our oceans and kill millions of birds and sea life. The Foundation will also seek to educate people about the truth of Climate Change and help them better understand the impact of sea rise on our coastlines and tropical islands. The world is facing an ever-increasing population that requires more consumption of the remaining and declining natural resources we must all share, like oil, ocean fish and other natural resources and minerals.
As a result, our eco-systems, like many of us, are all under severe stress. Our oceans, harbors and rivers in many parts of the world remain dangerously polluted. It is time to wake-up and become more aware of these issues and there impact on our health.
This is what the Foundation is all about – and we cannot do it alone! Your help in reducing the use of plastic packaged food and beverage products, use of plastic bags and use of re-usable products is needed. Together we can and MUST reverse the damaging trends of plastic waste. That is our common goal and objective. |
