The TahitiPetey brand was originally conceived on a napkin by Peter "TahitiPetey" Ortmann, aka: Petey, our Founder and President, while he and his wife Corrin were cruising the Islands of Tahiti in May 2000.
The private TahitiPetey Foundation was born a few years later and it has taken many twists and turns over the years, and faced many business challenges as Petey attempted to build and fund his true out-of-the-box, socially responsible programs and projects.
In Early 2010, Petey decided that it was time to focus mainly on his two core Foundation projects; its Clear Blue Oceans (CBO) plastic waste reduction initiative, and his special Marissa's Reef For Heavenly Helpers memorial project.
To accomplish this, Petey developed a self-funding strategy with his private invitation only FoundersClub, and developed some unique sponsorship programs to help fund the development and launch of these programs.
In short, the Foundation is dedicated to increasing awareness of important issues like Climate Change, Sea level rise and the impact to the oceans, marine life and our coastlines. It's a massive undertaking by any standard, but what you see here, is the product of Petey, one person, with a personal passion to pay-it-forward.
The Foundation is NOT a tax-deductible charity. It has never been one, nor will it ever become one, and we do not directly solicit individual private or corporate donations for our operations, programs or projects.
That being said, our private FoundersClub Members do provide us with ongoing monthly contributions, and we will seek additional corporate and individual sponsorships to help fund the construction of our proposed $30 million Marissa's Reef project here in Vancouver, once its ready to go.
Join us in these efforts.
